Washing
Embroidered articles should be washed separately form other items. It is advisable to wash by hand in warm water ideally using pure soap flakes in a large basin. Always ensure the soap flakes are dissolved completely before immersing the embroidery. Swish the embroidery around in the suds and squeeze gently - do NOT rub. Rinse thoroughly in warm water, squeeze out by hand do NOT wring or twist. Never leave the embroidery wet, roll up immediately in a towel to absorb excess moisture until half dry. If a very mild washing powder is used, be sure to follow the advice given by the manufacturer relating to its use. DO NOT use bleach especially if coloured embroidery threads have been used, as it will impair the true colours.

Ironing
To press embroidery, place one or two layers of towelling on the ironing board, lay embroidery face down on the towelling and iron while still damp, using a moderately hot iron if cotton or linen fabric has been used. If a synthetic or part synthetic fabric has been used, follow the manufacturers washing instructions and use a cool iron if necessary. If you follow these simple instructions when washing embroidered articles they will give you many years of pleasure and satisfaction.
